Swing dance
Slow Bal
Slow Bal, or Slow Balboa, is a swing dance from the 1940s. It is danced to the slow jazz music of that era. It is a playful and, above all, elegant dance.
Slow Bal is said to have originated in the 1940s, though its exact history and how people danced to slow jazz at the time remain uncertain. The style we recognize today is largely influenced by two key dancers: Dean Raftery and Ray Cunningham.
With limited historical footage available, the dance has naturally evolved over time. Even now, the Slow Bal community continues to innovate, creating new moves and variations that keep the dance vibrant and ever-evolving.
Blues dance
Blues is not a swing dance, but there is no swing without the blues.
